State Central Committee Sends Chance and Kamara to Republican National Committee

May 22, 2024

At the State Central Committee meeting on Thursday, the delegates passed the torch to a younger generation of representation to the Republican National Committee. The delegates elected Emily Chance as our RNC National Committeewoman and AK Kamara as our National Committeeman. Neither ran on the basis of diversity, but were selected based on their individual talents, energy, and the outreach that they promised to incorporate in their work for the Party.

Emily Chance and AK Kamara will take over from the current National Committeewoman, Barb Sutter, and Committeeman, Alex Plechash, at the end of the Republican National Convention in July.

Barb Sutter and Alex Plechash have served our party and our CD with distinction for several years. Alex made a gracious and unifying speech following AK Kamara’s election, offering his congratulations. Both Barb and Alex promised their support in the transition to the new RNC Committee members.

Emily Novotny Chance, the daughter of Rep Paul Novotny (R-30B) of Elk River and She has volunteered to get conservative candidates elected since she was 14, from school board to the President. Emily was active in the Young Republicans and has traveled the country working for the Donald Trump campaign. She pledges

  • To work continuously towards expanding the party through activism and recruitment of the next generation of conservative patriots.
  • Be an approachable and trustworthy leader who exercises discretion and sound judgment.
  • To serve as a positive representative of the MNGOP at both state and national levels.
  • To bring a fresh, energetic perspective to strategic discussions and planning

AK Kamara began as a College Republican activist. He continues to be active in the party, helping candidates up and down the ballot and across the state. AK has considerable social media skills. He has amassed over 150,000 followers across several social media platforms by creating content that openly and proudly advocates conservatism, liberty, the Republican party, Republican candidates, right of center organizations, and President Donald J. Trump!

He feels he can connect with average everyday Minnesotans, meet them where they are, and bring them into the party. Demographics that have not been open to the GOP are now expressing interest in the Republican party in numbers not seen in over 50 years. He intends to be an advocate passionate about earning their support.
