BPOU stands for Basic Political Operating Unit, and we are a group of conservative Republicans working inside Senate District 35. You are invited to attend our monthly meeting. We meet every third Thursday of the month at the Coon Rapids VFW at 7:00 PM. Come early for a social hour at 6:00 PM, food is available for purchase. You will hear an inspiring message, hear from our executive committee, hear from our elected officials, and learn about different opportunities to make a difference.
In July, our Executive Committee was invited to a summit hosted by the Anoka County Election Integrity Team (ACEIT). At this summit we were given an update on the progress of their work.
Since their inception they have presented over 40 - 2 minute speeches to the Anoka County Board making the case that our elections would be much more secure if we return to hand counted ballots (or at least parallel hand count next to tabulators), remove all electronics where possible, and infuse a more robust audit system in the post election review process.
As a result of this summit we, as an executive committee, committed to present a vote to the larger BPOU Full Committee and Delegates on weather or not to support the following key points.
1) Post-Election Reviews (PERs) for all down-ballot elections.
2) Discontinue the use of the Poll Pads and return to the Paper Poll Books.
3) A hand count of all elections for the County elections in 2023.
We ask that you attend the BPOU meeting on Thursday, September 21st to hear from Scott, Chair of SD 35. We will then vote on whether or not to support the 3 items listed above and sent a letter to the Anoka County Commissioners indicating the support of our Full Committee.
