SD 50 Republicans Press release

Unattended Ballots at Edina City Hall

October 19, 2024

Edina, MN

On October 18, 2024, an election judge and Edina resident photographed an unmarked mini-van parked in a handicap space at the City Hall in Edina. The rear hatch was wide open, exposing approximately twelve boxes of ballots and the driver had left the open trunk unattended. The photograph was uploaded onto the SD50 MN GOP “X” site, tagging several entities, including the City of Edina, the Secretary of State and several journalists. The post has been quoted and responses have been numerous.

Late last night, the City of Edina posted a video of the van during the approximately eighteen minutes it was parked at City Hall. Although the video does not appear to indicate the ballots were tampered with during the time they were unattended in Edina and a verification from a representative with Hennepin County stated that all ballots have been accounted for, we have questions and concerns about the ballot transfer process and its potential impact on the results of the upcoming November 5, 2024 election. We have reached out to Jennifer Bennerotte, Communications Director with the City of Edina, requesting a meeting with city staff to discuss additional concerns and questions we have in regard to the photograph/video.

SD50 MN GOP will provide an update with a summary of the meeting, once complete.
