TERI'S TAKE

A NOTE FROM OUR SD50 CO-CHAIR, TERI HOVANEC

Independence Day is a chance to remember and celebrate the progress our nation has made since

its inception and a reminder of the spirit of the American people and their ability to overcome

adversity.

“Saving democracy” has been the battle cry of the 2024 election cycle. It is important

to remember that a healthy democracy allows for diverse perspectives and healthy debates, which

are imperative for effective governance and policy-making. For Republicans, maintaining a

democratic system means upholding the rule of law, promoting limited government, and ensuring

that the government's power is derived from the consent of the governed. For Democrats . . . well,

let’s just agree that they are struggling in understanding what the definition of “democracy” is.

Republicans continue to advocate for policies that reflect their values and principles while

contributing to the stability and prosperity of our communities and our state. SD50 is beyond

excited to have two solid candidates for Minnesota House 2024 in Owen Michealson (50A) and

Bob Gust (50B). We will be posting details on events and fundraisers for both Owen and Bob to

be held in the coming months that will give SD50 constituents opportunities to meet the candidates

and understand why we are so excited they are running. To have two exceptional candidates for SD50,

both of whom are strong conservatives who believe in the strength of our democracy, is worth

celebrating this July 4.

It's going to be a very exciting election season! Together we can do this!
